Each year industrial giants come up with their new big models loaded with extra features and that one special surprise that keeps tech savvies across the globe waiting. Apple’s iPhone 5S, HTC One M8, Sony Xperia Z2, LG G3 and of course Samsung Galaxy S5 are the top names you will hear this year when you enter any mobile store, no matter which corner of the globe you are at.
Amongst the list of the top runners of the smartphone race, Samsung stands out for its plastic build. After being mocked upon by the rivals and the haters, rumor has it that the South Korean company is working on something more premium for its most awaited Galaxy S5 Prime or Galaxy F.
What’s With The Name?
Over the last few weeks, we have come across various leaked images of the upcoming Samsung smartphone. Further, we have also had access to a few reports. As per the information available, the specifications and other features of the two smartphones, Galaxy F and Galaxy S5 are identical.
Therefore, we can safely conclude that Galaxy F is nothing but an internal code name for the device, that the South Korean company is actively working on, and that the company’s upcoming device will be called “Galaxy S5 Prime.”
However, rumors floating in the market suggest that Galaxy S5 Prime and Galaxy F are two entirely different devices, that Samsung is working on. While the authentication of rumors is highly questionable, we cannot reject the possibility that Samsung is in fact working on launching two brilliant smartphones this year. Last year Samsung had launched, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy S4 Zoom. Therefore, the confusion between the names just piles up as we speak of it.
The First Glimpse
As mentioned earlier Samsung is trying a completely new look for its upcoming mobile device. Based on the images that were leaked in the last few weeks, Galaxy F doesn’t look any different from the Samsung Galaxy S5. The only predominant difference, however, is that the company has made use of premium material instead of its regular cheap plastic. The rear over of Galaxy F certainly is capable of turning heads, with its smart metallic feel and definitely few scales higher than the faux-leather finish of the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Galaxy F Screen
The other big difference, which is evident by just looking at the leaked pictures, is that Galaxy F supposedly has the same dimensions as that possessed by Galaxy S5, however, the screen of the upcoming model somehow seems slightly larger than that of the Samsung Galaxy S5.
While Galaxy S5 sported a 5.1 inch full HD screen, Samsung’s Galaxy F will be packed with a grand 5.3 inch screen. The difference is strikingly evident in the screen resolution of both the devices. While Galaxy S5 gives a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels, the Galaxy F is likely to feature 1440×2560 pixels of screen resolution.
It is unofficially mandatory for manufacturers, to produce something which is in some or all aspects superior to its predecessors. While Samsung Galaxy S5 impressed people across the globe with its stunning internal hardware, Galaxy F is set to break that record as well.
According to various reports, Samsung Galaxy F will be amongst the first few smartphones to be loaded with Qualcomm quad core Snapdragon 805 chip clocked at 2.5 GHz paired with 3GB of RAM. Galaxy S5, however, featured Snapdragon 801 chip with 2GB of RAM.
The camera of Galaxy F is going to undergo no change, as reports suggest it will feature the same 16 MP rear facing and 2 MP front facing camera, as that of the Samsung Galaxy S5. Other features which will remain the same are the heart-rate monitor and the fingerprint sensor, which we have come across in Galaxy S5.
The Galaxy F Software
Since Google will launch its latest Android version, Android L, in September, it is practically impossible for Samsung’s Galaxy F to run on the latest Android version. So it is safe to presume that Galaxy F will run on Android KitKat 4.4.3 or 4.4.4, when it makes its big debut this year. However, the manufacturers may release a software update whenever they wish to do so.
Galaxy F Launch
Initially, the date set for the release of Samsung’s most awaited product was in June. However, due to some technical glitches it was moved to July.
We prefer to presume that the product will be out by September of this year. So hold your breath as we welcome the newest member of the Galaxy family.
